LCD TV sets are expected to overtake traditional cathode ray tube (CRT) sets by 2009, according to a recent report at www.CNETNews.com .Shipments of TVs with LCD screens accounted for about 17 percent of TVs in the first quarter of 2006. Plasma and projection TVs accounted for 3 percent each. LCD sales are on the rise, and research firm iSuppli predicts that by 2009 they will account for 48 percent of TVs shipped and CRTs will account for only 42 percent, according to the report.
